This weekend is my Hubby's sister in law's 50th birthday. For some time I have been trying to think of what to make for her. She always makes her own cards, and I always think its rather sad that those who spend so much time making cards for others, often end up with shop bought cards themselves!
Last night....an idea popped into my head so I set to and crocheted some strips. The question is...could these strips transform themselves into what was in my head?
This morning I thought the strips would really benefit from being blocked ( getting hooked on this blocking business aren't I!)
I had in my head a simple wildflower meadow, with 50 in it somewhere. It ended up with the numbers being flowers themselves, not my original plan, but kind of liked the idea.
I found some buttons I had forgotten I had bought in The Range on my last visit ( how do I forget so soon!) I thought the red and white ones kind of looked like toadstools, the blue and white ones, of course represent the sky/clouds.
Originally the white strips were going to be made into daisies, but I rather liked the idea of using the green stalks as fern. The white has now become dandelion seeds floating in the air.
If it's all passing you by...don't worry, I know I have a vivid imagination!
These were the buttons...I think I may go and get another pack, I rather like them and found them so useful today!
Later in the morning it was time to meet up at church to finish off what we had started the other weekend. We also needed to give the toys their annual clean.
Teen Two did all the big ones for us.
Three older ladies and myself did the small ones
whilst one of my Dream Team members came in from work to touch up some of the paintwork.
It was a long hard day, and there are no "after" pics yet as we still have some tidying to do.
But I have hung up the six pairs of curtains ( arm aching!) and all the toys are back inside and all the chairs where they should be, so we can at least use the room once again.
Am in the mood for a spot of crocheting strips....have some ideas in my head!
Well done on your returning mo Jo !! I think the card is delightful, and very original. I am sure it will be received gratefully. Well done. I can see a new craft coming on!
ReplyDeleteYou haven't mentioned hubby's tooth, did he manage to get it sorted.? Xxx
Still missing a tooth in the front and taking a while to get used to the new speaking voice! He saw his dentist yesterday and she is having a plate made, which will be fitted Thursday. See how he gets on with it. He isn't looking forward to leaving part of his teeth on the bedside cabinet every night! Teen Two doesn't like to see the gap at all!
DeleteHow about crochet snowflakes as tree decorations?
