When Will I Become A Responsible Adult?

This morning I was awake bright and breezy, before the sun had risen!
When it did rise, it brought with it a beautiful blue sky and white fluffy clouds.
Being confined to barracks until the Hotpoint man came to replace a couple of things in the oven, I made the most of it and changed the beds, knowing the sheets etc would be dry in no time.
I also dusted some areas that have been seriously neglected over the summer...tut tut!
With another day of waiting in tomorrow for the builder, I hope to tackle a few more chores that tend to get ignored forgotten put on the back burner for more important chores.

With the bed linen dry, I was even able to get the usual load of washing out...a nice pile of ironing is piling up methinks!
With the Hotpoint man having replaced the light bulb and door seal, and both Teens home for the afternoon, we set off to town for a few errands.

I opened a current account for Teen Two some time ago and he uses it to buy bits and bobs when we are out, but with most transactions only being a few pounds, he uses the contactless method.
So today we went into the bank to  practice using a cashpoint to withdraw some cash for his lunch money this month.
For the last year or so he has had lunch at college once a week, a) because his eyes popped out of his head when he saw what was available on one of our visits and b) it gives him some practice at ordering, working out what he can afford etc.
He has £5 a week and can spend it however he wants, on daily snack or once a week lunch with drink and dessert and a little left over for hot chocolate from the machine another day.
As I expected, using the cashpoint didn't cause any issues, it was just a case of guiding him through the options, I have to confess, I didn't realise how much can be done through a cashpoint these days, including topping up a mobile phone balance!
When I first used a cashpoint all it did was dispense cash, but now its like a mini bank!
Its not that I don't use cashpoints, but I never bother looking at all the options, just go on "auto pilot" so today I had to look at it through the eyes of someone who has never used the machine before, it was a real eye opener I must say!

Teen One then went to Primark  (always something interesting to buy in there!) whilst Teen Two went to Game to use their Virtual Reality game, and I went to collect a Blue Badge for my Monday Recycled Teenager. It will make life so much easier when not only I, but her family take her out.

We had parked in a supermarket car park and their walls were covered in the most beautiful bright red leaves, it was really stunning.
We brought a few home with us to add to the autumnal display, but without the sun shining on them they are nowhere near as colourful!

Keys are a constant worry don't you find?
The "where did I put my keys?" moments fill me with terror!
Probably a bad memory going back to when I was young and was given a church key to look after with FQ2FF.
I pretended, for some reason, to have lost it in a back alley, after letting my unwitting older cousin spend a minute or two looking for it, I confessed I hadn't lost it at all....only a few metres down the alley to discover I really had lost it!!
How it happened I will never know, and how we never managed to find it is another mystery, but the memory is ingrained in my mind and the shame of not being the responsible child I was considered to be was more than I could bear!
I cried myself to sleep and was severely reprimanded for my misdemeanour, being assured I would  be paying for a replacement from my pocket money!
Oh the shame and woe of it all!
I believe FQ2FF ended up sleeping with her mum and dad as I snivelled the night away!
So.....when I couldn't find my house keys today I was only slightly panic ridden....after all, I am a very responsible adult...aren't I?
I always put the keys straight in the hall basket, unless I have a coat on then they go in my coat...but there are times when we are distracted and they end up in the most bizzare of places, so I assumed they would be in the kitchen maybe....or the car ( Teen One had let us in I remembered in my panic) but nope, the keys were nowhere to be seen.
As always, I mentally retraced my steps, thinking about the last time I would have picked them up...what was I wearing, what bag did I have etc...then it dawned on me, I had used my Monday Recycled Teenagers bag to carry my purse in to the hospital, rather than my larger shopping bags ( we were going on to Morrisons after the hospital)so, that was my last ditch hope, that I had put them in there without thinking.
So, when I called round to give her the Blue Badge, I asked if I could take a look in the shopping bag I had dropped off yesterday afternoon...and yayyyyy, there were the keys!
Phew, so lovely to have them back in my hand, and once again I have promised myself to be more careful with them in future and save myself all this angst!
