Today was back to the old routine, the summer holidays are well and truly over.
I checked that my Recycled Teenager next door was ok first thing, went to see my Monday Recycled Teenager, did a bit of cleaning and took her shopping as usual. Sadly she has to go in for a little procedure next week for her cancer as the current medication isn't doing its job.
Once home and my own shopping unpacked, a quick avocado salad lunch with Teen One, it was time to catch up with my Recycled Teenager in the dementia home.
Its been some weeks since I managed to see her and she was very agitated and clearly had no idea who I was.
Once home, it was time to think about trying out a new recipe for tonight's dinner.
Sticky lemon chicken is on the menu I have decided.
It looks quite tasty. I have to admit to doing my own thing a bit. I don't particularly like cooking dinners I have to stand over the oven and cook...grilled, frying etc. So I abandoned the recipe's instructions and put all the ingredients in a casserole dish, ready to pop in the oven.
The recipes in the book use no more than five ingredients. Today's uses only four. Chicken breast, lemon, thyme and honey.
It is currently in the oven and smelling very good indeed.
A friend of mine has a small orchard, so every year around this time I get carriers of apples brought to my door....brilliant!
I say brilliant....I LOVE LOVE LOVE having a freezer full of apples...so easy to whip up a crumble for those unexpected guests....but I HATE HATE HATE preparing them for the freezer.
This afternoon I decided I couldn't put the job off any longer and sat down for an hour or so getting that tedious job done.
I am so happy to now have a drawer full of apples in the freezer, along with some of last years blackberries still...better use them up as I know I will be getting more of them coming my way soon!
Whenever I think of Apples, I always think of a calendar called "Apples of Gold" which many of the Recycled Teenagers I visit, have hanging in their homes.
If you fancy some inspirational scripture reading to start your day why not take a look.
I wrote a comment on young retiree blog which should have gone onto your blog, I'm a completely mixed up kid today! ( nothing new there I hear you say!!) xx
