Today was another leg of the uni journey for Teen One.
It meant an early start...not good for a Saturday morning, and especially the first week back after the long summer holidays.
Our destination was our ancient capital, Winchester.
A beautiful city full of history, "from legend and lore to awe-inspiring architecture, a treasure trove of English heritage."
It was a mix of old and new, both in its buildings and sculptures dotted around the campus.
We had some time to spare in between the welcome talk and the course talk we wanted to attend, so we wiled away the time with a latte for me, hot orange chocolate for the others and game of Uno.
It was the longest game we have ever played...it went on and on and we sadly didn't have time to see who would win.
We had chosen the Park and Ride option for getting to the campus, the walk down the hill, going, was fine...the walk back up was not!
Teen One has another couple of Uni's to visit in the coming months, but it's looking like the first visit is the favourite.
Hard to believe this time next year she could be there!
Manchester also has a very good university - and free accommodation from kindly relatives - just saying!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSadly Manchester does not offer any Primary Ed/Teaching courses...we checked as soon as we came home from Norfolk!
DeleteVery difficult to realise that teen one will be a full blown student!!! What course does she want take? I know it will hopefully lead to a teaching course but these days they seem to have options.xxx
ReplyDeleteStill thinking about it, the B ed in Primary teaching/education with QTS after three years is the hot one, although very very oversubscribed...1500 applicants at Winchester with only 216 places! There is also a four year course and that was under consideration today. She definitely wants to do the degree in Primary Ed as opposed to a non specific subject and then a year of teacher training.
ReplyDeleteMeant to say, Winchester said all teacher training courses across the UK are way over subscribed, which is not what we hear in the news about teacher recruitment being low and the government bringing in teachers from abroad.

I am sure that you will find the best course for teen one and the one that prepares her the best for her chosen career.
