Afternoon Treats In The Country

This morning we awoke to beautiful blue skies again.
I really needed to get caught up with some household chores but wanted to make the most of the good weather, so the morning was dedicated to housework  for me, whilst Teen One swatted up on the Highway Code and Teen Two went to Grandma's to play Rummikub.
We had  an early lunch in the garden and I managed to make a couple of granny squares whilst enjoying the warm sunshine.

After our early lunch, we drove out to the country, for a walk along a disused railway line...

...Teen Two had his binoculars with him....his dad will be pleased...he loves his binos!

It seems you are never too old for a game of Pooh Sticks...its just the sticks get bigger!
Teen Two found some rather large branches to drop over the bridge...

....we counted how long they took to appear...long thin ones were the quickest.

This church looks really lovely in spring, with the grass covered in daffodils.

We then walked up to the village square for a meander round the shops...

...this confectioners shop was very pretty and sold all kinds of unusual chocolates...one was octopus shaped!

And I thought these sweet emery boards would make perfect gifts.

By now we were in need of a cuppa...
...there is a recurring theme it seems, where tea shops are concerned!
No prizes for guessing whose choice this is!

Teen One chose a berry frappe, which was delicious.

Both Teens chose a giant slab of Rocky Road slice...with giant "mini marshmallows"

I opted for a pot of tea, and was surprised to see it was made with tea leaves...very unusual these days!
I thought the tea pot was rather cute, with a special pull out strainer.

I couldn't resist the lemon meringue pie...home made and very scrummy

I asked the waitress how many eggs it took to get the meringue so high....
NINE!

There was a paper on our table, so whilst waiting for our order Teen One and I had a go at the crossword....

Teen Two noticed the word wheel and was interested in that, so we abandoned the crossword and did that instead.

We walked back through the village....

...stopping to admire the beautiful coloured foliage on the way.

On our way back home we stopped off at a local beauty spot...ideal for Teen Two to use his binoculars...

...and we pretty much had the place to ourselves....

...we had some pots in the car so thought we would check out the blackberry bushes....

...but they are far from ripe at the moment...

...so we went in search of dandelions instead for the bunnies....

...there was plenty of clover around so we added them to the bunny salad...

...the dandelions were plentiful....

...which is just as well as they loved them...but didn't want the clover....unlike Thumper on Disney's Bambi!

Dinner tonight, is the marrow I bought last week at Chawton, stuffed with left over chilli.
It's been a lovely day and we seem to have shaken off the blues from yesterday thankfully.

Today's Promise:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
