Disappointment Turns To Joy!

Well if last night we were disappointed not to be looking after our friends granddaughter....today more than made up for it!
We had a phone call to say my friends mum was still very poorly, but had taken a turn for the better in the night, however it was still touch and go.
So, to enable the family to be with their mum and grandma whilst the day panned out, we were asked to have Little Princess.
Of course we jumped at the chance!

Noone was more delighted than Teen One!
We did have some tears to start with, but a walk round the local pond changed the mood and then a trip to the swings.
I had to fit in taking Grandma to the dentist, Teen Two to his Speech and Language therapy, then back to organise dinner for a friend who was coming in the evening.

Milly was not too happy about our little visitor and retreated to the cat tent we had made her the other month!
She stayed there out of sight for the rest of the afternoon.

The friend who was coming loves strawberries.
I had intended making a roulade with pistachio nuts on the outside, but with Little Princess turning up I resorted to a quick and easy layered strawberry shortcake.
He thoroughly enjoyed it...and so did we!

We now just have to wait and see how my friends mum is over the next 24 hours.
Its been rather a roller coaster of emotions for them to say the least.

  1. It sure is a roller coaster - but you've certainly taken one "load" off them x
