A Garage, A Greenhouse And An Anderson Shelter!

Our garage is one of those areas...rather like cupboards, that no matter how much I clear it, it gets filled up again!
Not many months ago the floor was visible and I actually was able to sweep it!

Hubby has been gradually sorting out storage for his endless amount of tool boxes!

The reason we wanted the garage emptied was so we can store the Clio in...it seems rather unneighbourly to have three cars on the road doesn't it!
So, we took the "Life Laundry" route and emptied practically all of the garage  into the garden, with the thought that with the Clio in the garage (oh and did I mention a new freezer from next door as well??) we could only put back SO much and would therefore have to ditch what didn't fit.

So my lovely tidy patio area went from looking like this.....

...to this!!
And the awful thing is, as I type, at 7.18pm tired, dirty and in need of a bath, it still looks like that!!

The garage however looks great!

And the freezer is in situ behind the door (not in pic )
We did put the Clio in and chalked where it stood, then took it out to make it easier for moving around.
Do you see the wooden blocks on the floor about a third up in the picture....

When the boards are removed, they reveal a staircase....

...with a small entrance into an Anderson Shelter!
We have always known it was there and over the years harboured dreams of it being made into a den for the Teens, but it needs too much work doing to it...and they are now too big to be bothered with such things!
Knowing we were going to be short on storage space, we thought some of our junk essential belongings, that wont rust or rot, could be stored down there....one problem....the previous owners had used it to dump all the glass from a greenhouse they no longer wanted.
It has always irked hubby that it was down there ( for me it was out of sight out of mind!) and today he decided he didn't want to put anything of ours down there until the glass was out!
So...it took about an hour to empty it then load the car with it.
We then loaded the Clio (no way was the Fiesta going to have dump stuff in it!) and the two of us set off to the dump.
An hour later we were back home and decided there was another car load at least ready to go.
I set to and got dinner ready, whilst Hubby went to the dump.
Sadly it had closed!
So he came back and emptied the junk into the garage (Boo hoo!) as he didn't want the car to start smelling like the garage!
We are going to keep the Clio on the road tonight and somehow, summons the energy to put back what would get spoilt if it rained!
It will be a good job when its done and I guess if we hadn't have had the previous occupants junk to get rid of, we could have had it all done by now...and more importantly...I could be soaking in  a lovely bath!

Today's Promise:
I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

  1. I know exactly how you feel - with the craft room being decorated soon, the rest of the house looks like a bomb has hit it! It will be worth it in the end.
