Starting with last night.....I had left overs in the fridge from several meals...and not being a wasteful family where food is concerned, I was eager to  think of something to use up: a small pot of rice, some mince from a cottage pie, broccoli, plus a couple of large potatoes....not enough for a portion each.
I made the potatoes into wedges, baked them first, then added a layer of broccoli, covered that with the mince and rice, adding  a dash of chilli sauce, scattered a cheap bag of tortilla chips ( from Lidl), then a generous covering of grated cheese.
Cooked it all till the mince was heated thoroughly and the cheese golden brown.
It was a resounding success....we just couldn't think of a name for the dish...for the time being its
"What is it?!"
This morning was church as usual, followed by our usual roast dinner... we had the extra treat of some jellied cranberry roll, which I brought back from the US.
We really like this, with turkey or chicken.
Such a shame its not made over here in the UK.
We had a very short afternoon as Hubby was preaching at  small church around 40mins drive from here.
They always have around a dozen people who come in off the street, most with some learning difficulties.
The small congregation always provide a simple tea afterwards, which is always enjoyed by the visitors who get to take doggy bags home with them!
The Teen Two in particularly enjoys the teas here.
Hubby appreciated the new screen the church put in (for the funeral last week) to display the presentation he had prepared on Jonah.
We then had the 40 minute drive home in time for our own Gospel Service.
Unfortunately the preacher didn't turn up, so Hubby stood in...and amazingly enough he didn't use the Jonah message!

Today's Verse:
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

  1. A full day on what is supposed to be a day of 'rest'!!!! Well done

  3. I am sure that you could make your own cranberry roll - why not try?

  4. Sounds like a lot of faffing around to me!
